Anorexia and Eating Disorders helped in Cambridge and London with Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy and Applied Psychological Techniques
Anorexia nervosa, commonly shortened to just anorexia, is an eating disorder, where the sufferer maintains an extremely low body weight. If you suffer from anorexia you have a distorted body image, believe that you are fat or have an intense fear of gaining weight. Within the medical profession, anorexia is diagnosed when a person is maintaining a body weight of 15% less than the expected weight for someone of their height. Anorexia mainly affects teenage girls and young women, although people of all age, boys and men can be affected by the eating disorder.
Anorexics tend to maintain a very low body weight by strictly limiting their calorie intake, through self-starvation. Obsessive exercising is, also, very common, and some people may additionally use laxatives, diuretics and weight loss pills or cause themselves to vomit.
If you are struggling with anorexia, it is likely that you are very self-critical and strive for perfection in everything that you do. You probably have very low self-esteem and your view of your body is a reflection of this. You are likely to have many obsessional thoughts about your body and calorie intake and in response to these recurrent intrusive thoughts, you strive to keep your body weight extremely low. People with anorexia, also, often use food as a way of feeling in control. You may feel that limiting your food intake is the only control that you can extert over your life.

The symptoms of anorexia include:

- Belief that you are fat, even when underweight
- Intense fear of gaining weight
- Eating routines, refusing to eat in public
- Wearing loose clothing to hide weight loss
- Excessive, obsessional exercising
- Laxative or diuretic use or inducing vomiting
- Low mood and anxiety
- Low self-esteem and feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness
- Withdrawing from friends and family
Anorexia can also cause many physical symptoms and health problems:
- Frequent illness
- Tiredness
- Feeling very cold
- Stomach pains
- Constipation
- Loss of menstrual periods
- Anaemia
- Brittle hair and nails
- Hair loss
- Fine hair growth over body
- Damaged organs, particularly the heart, brain, and kidneys
- Drop in blood pressure, pulse, and breathing rates
- Irregular heartbeat
- Osteoporosis (thinning of the bones)
- Electrolyte imbalance
- In severe cases death from starvation
Anorexia can, however, be very successfully treated. I offer two distinct forms of treatment in both Cambridge and London.
Resolving Anorexia with Pure Hypnoanalysis
Pure Hypnoanalysis can be an effective therapy for treating anorexia and eating disorders. It is a unique type of hypnotherapy and one of the best methods in the world for treating emotional, psychological or anxiety-related problems.
Anorexia is often caused by unresolved, bottled up emotions. These unresolved emotions cause anxiety and low self-esteem and in anorexia this is reflected in a very distorted body image. In Pure Hypnoanalysis, you are able to completely resolve the root emotional cause of your problems, in a very safe and non-judgmental atmosphere. Over a period of about 6 to 12 sessions, we slowly link experiences together (using a process of 'free association') until you have released all your bottled up emotions. Upon finishing therapy, you will find that you are no longer held back by unresolved emotional issues and are able to live the life you really want, free of the anxieties that were causing your anorexia.

Banishing Anorexia through Changing Limiting Beliefs
My Changing Limiting Beliefs training programme is an alternative way of putting an end to your anorexia. I have developed this process over the last 10 years, combining the unique insights
that I have gained from working with so many clients with powerful psychological techniques. This programme was created specifically to treat problems and conditions, such as anorexia, which are created or contributed to by obsessional thoughts. If you are obsessional you brood and worry, finding it difficult to 'let go' of certain thoughts and feelings. This programme teaches you how to take control of your thoughts, feelings, emotions, doubts and worries. Through changing your limiting beliefs you will find that you will gain amazing personal insight. With the training you will be able to completely change the way you think and feel about yourself and challenging situations, enabling you to live a happier, more successful and positive life, free from your eating disorder
The Changing Limiting Beliefs programme is particularly suitable for anyone who may, for whatever reason, find going through a course of Pure Hypnoanalysis very difficult or impossible.
