Guilt and Shame helped in Cambridge and London with Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy and applied psychological techniques
Shame and guilt are both self-conscious emotions and are often grouped together. Although the two emotions are closely linked, there are subtle differences between the two.
With guilt the focus is on your behaviour, which you perceive to have broken important rules or internal moral standards. You feel bad because you believe that you have done something you shouldn't. You may be afraid that others will find out about your misdemeanour and that some sort of punishment may follow.
With shame your focus is not on your behaviour or acts, but on you as a person. You believe that you are fundamentally bad or defective. You feel bad because of who/what you are rather than because of what you have done. You are afraid of being exposed to others for what you 'really' are - flawed and worthless. Very often shame and guilt are found together. You feel guilty because you have done something wrong that violates your moral standards, and ashamed because, as a result of your transgression, you perceive yourself to be a bad, defective person. By doing something 'bad' you believe that you are 'bad'.
Of the all emotions you feel, guilt and shame are partiularly powerful because they are all about YOU. You can love someone else, you can hate someone else, you can be angry at someone else, you can be jealous of someone else, you can be afraid of someone else…. But you cannot project guilt or shame onto someone else; these feelings are all about you. YOU feel guilty or ashamed; it’s something that can really eat away at you and can be really hard to get rid of.
Everybody feels guilty and ashamed from time to time. We all do things that we wish we hadn't and we all have the odd time where we believe ourselves to be unworthy or bad. But for some people feelings of guilt and shame are more persistent and frequent than for others. Excessive guilt and shame occurs when you believe that as a result of what you have done you are an awful person, who doesn't deserve to feel happy and enjoy life.
As I mentioned above guilt and shame are very powerful feelings, which cannot be projected onto others. Because these feelings are so uncomfortable and personal, it is very common for people to bottle them up. If you have an experience where you feel particularly guilty and ashamed you may completely repress these emotions, leaving them unresolved and able to continually affect your life. You are likely to feel very guilty and ashamed on subsequent occasions, even when you have done very little wrong.
If you have bottled up shame and guilt in the past, this is likely to have an impact upon how you feel and behave now. You may:
- Have social anxiety - a fear of being judged by others
- Have low self-esteem
- Feel overly responsible for other people, trying to make everybody happy, even at the expense of your own happiness
- Have a fear of criticism and failure
- Be overly sensitive
- Have trouble making decisions, worrying about making the wrong one
- Feel very guilty and ashamed after commiting even minor faults
Guilt and shame can be very successfully resolved in a number of ways.
Resolving Guilt and Shame with Pure Hypnoanalysis
Pure Hypnoanalysis is an extremely effective therapy for resolving guilt and shame. It is a very special type of hypnotherapy and one of the best methods in the world for treating emotional, psychological or anxiety-related problems.
Persistent feelings of guilt and shame result from having previously bottled up these emotions, leaving them unresolved. In this uniquely successful therapy, you are able to completely resolve the root emotional cause of your problems, in a very safe and non-judgmental atmosphere. Over a period of about 6 to 12 sessions, we slowly link experiences together (using a process of 'free association') until you have released all your bottled up emotions. Upon finishing therapy, you will find that you are no longer held back by unresolved emotional issues and are able to live the life you really want.

Testimonials
When I look back now and see the person I was all that time ago before I went into therapy, I can see a very troubled man. I was in therapy for sometime with Rob but the personable nature of the man made it a pleasure to go through. I have found that when I look back there is no comparison between the person I am now and the person I was then. I feel a great weight has been lifted. Before therapy I didn't really value my life, I had thoughts of ending everything, now I am looking forward to each new day with relish and enthusiasm unencumbered by anger and guilt. I feel I have not only got my life back, I got an insight into how my mind works and I have also gained a friend. Cheers Rob keep up the good work!
Thanks Rob,
Ben
Firstly can I say what a special person Rob is with a special talent and ability!! Very warm, caring, humorous, patient and understanding. I cannot begin to thankyou enough for what you have done for me and my family. I came to you as a chap who put on a mask to the outside world that everything was fine and dandy, while underneath the surface I was drowning in emotions of guilt, nerves, anxiety, frustration and self hate. But thanks to your help, support, confidence and superb
therapy sessions, I have became so much more confident, guilt free, less frustrated, anxious, nervous and so much more happier with life but more importantly feeling so much more contented with myself as a person. I couldn't recommend this therapy treatment any more if I tried.
Thank you so much for helping change my life for the better!!!!
All the best Rob, take care.
