Sexual Problems helped in Cambridge and London with Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy and applied psychological techniques
It can understandably be very difficult for people to talk about and seek help for intimate or personal issues. Sexual problems are, however, remarkably common in both men and women. You can rest assured that I regularly treat sexual problems and that these are always dealt with in a sensitive, confidential, non-judgmental and professional way.
Some common symptoms that I treat include (but are not limited to):
- Premature Ejaculation
- Impotence/ Erectile Dysfunction
- Vaginismus
- Orgasmic Dysfunction in Women/ Anorgasmia
- Frigidity/ Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder
- Unwanted Fetishes
Premature Ejaculation (PE)
Premature ejaculation is also known as rapid ejaculation, rapid climax, premature climax, early ejaculation or simply, coming too soon. Premature ejaculation (PE) is the most common sexual dysfunction in men younger than 40 years old. Premature ejaculation is the persistent experience of ejaculating too quickly (coming too quickly) with very little sexual stimulation.
In a recent survey of several thousand British males, approximately 10% of them said that they often or sometimes had this trouble. Other studies have suggested a worldwide prevalence of approximately 30%. Some research has suggested that most men experience premature ejaculation issues at some point in their lives.
It's almost impossible to get an accurate definition of premature ejaculation, which makes it difficult to ascertain the exact prevalence of the condition. What some couples consider a very satisfactory length of intercourse would be inadequate for others.
At the 2006 Congress of the European Society for Sexual Medicine, an American research paper reported that the average lasting time of men with PE was 1.8 minutes. Men who were not considered to have PE lasted an average of 7.3 minutes.
Many definitions of PE now take account of three areas:
- A short period before ejaculation
- A lack of voluntary control over ejaculation
- A lack of sexual satisfaction for one or both partners
As a general rule, if either you, or your partner, feel that ejaculation is happening too soon for you, too often, then there probably is some degree of PE.
Sometimes, the condition is so bad that the man can't have sex because he ejaculates before he can enter the vagina. This can be devastating for a man's self-confidence and can be hugely frustrating for his partner.
Premature ejaculation usually has psychological causes. PE is generally a symptom of an unconscious emotional conflict. Anxiety, stress, low self-esteem and performance anxiety can all contribute to PE. Often, the underlying emotion can be a fear of being judged, added to a vague, nameless guilt about sex.
Often a PE sufferer will get caught up in a vicious cycle whereby he anticipates and worries about PE occurring, which in turn causes/contributes to climaxing early. This then reinforces the anticipation and worry.
Pure Hypnoanalysis is a highly effective method for treating PE as it completely resolves the underlying subconscious emotional causes - leaving the sufferer symptom free for life.
Impotence/ Erectile Dysfunction
Impotence/ Male Erectile Disorder/ Erectile dysfunction is a condition that causes men to have difficulty in getting an erection or maintaining an erection during sex. This can lead to feeling like a failure, frustration, feelings of inadequacy, feelings of rejection and feeling 'on the spot'.
Erectile dysfunction can have physical or psychological causes. Physical causes can include injuries to the penis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurological problems, hormonal insufficiencies and drug side effects (nicotine, anti-depressants, alcohol, heroin and cocaine can all impact negatively on male sexual function).
Commonly, erectile dysfunction has psychological roots. Stress, anxiety, depression, social anxiety or a fear of being judged, relationship problems, guilt or low self-confidence can all contribute to erectile dysfunction. The anticipation and worry of impotence occurring can, also, lead to a reinforcement cycle - this worry and anxiety can cause the impotence, which can then lead to the man feeling even more anxious the next time round.
Pure Hypnoanalysis is a highly successful treatment for psychologically rooted erectile dysfunction, as it completely resolves the underlying emotional causes of the problem.
Vaginismus
Vaginismus (sometimes known as vaginism) is a sexual problem, affecting women, where intense involuntary muscular contractions in the vaginal opening make sex painful or impossible.Vaginismus can, also, cause severe difficulties with using tampons and gynecological examinations.
Vaginismus sufferers may enjoy sexual foreplay and be able to reach orgasm through external stimulation. Penetration itself, however, is painful or even impossible and often extremely anxiety provoking. Many vaginismus sufferers strongly wish to engage in penetrative sex but are deterred by the pain and anxiety, which can lead to relationship problems. The sufferer may, also, feel inadequate, frustrated, embarrassed or ashamed.
Vaginismus can be primary, where a woman has never been able to experience vaginal penetration or sexual intercourse without pain. This form of vaginismus is usually discovered in teenagers and young women when they first attempt to use tampons, first have sex or go for a gynecological exam. Secondary vaginismus is where a woman has experienced painless penetration in the past, but subsequently develops vaginismus.
Vaginismus can have physical causes but is very often caused by an underlying subconscious anxiety. In addition to this, vaginismus sufferers regularly get caught up in a vicious reinforcement cycle - the sufferer subconsciously expects penetration to be painful and this fear of pain causes the vaginal muscles to tense up. Penetration is indeed then very painful, reinforcing this fear and expectation.
Many vaginismus sufferers have already sought treatment such as vaginal trainers, sex therapy, psychotherapy etc to little or no avail. Pure Hypnoanalysis treats vaginismus very successfully as it resolves the underlying emotional causes - leaving the sufferer symptom free for life.
Orgasmic Dysfunction in Women
When women fail to reach orgasm/ fail to climax, even if they enjoy sex, it is known as anorgasmia.
Primary anorgasmia is a condition where a person has never experienced an orgasm. Women with this condition can sometimes achieve a relatively low level of sexual excitement and may enjoy sex and sexual activities despite being unable to climax. Women who regularly achieve high levels of sexual response without an orgasmic release of tension may, however, find the experience extremely frustrating. Emotional irritability, restlessness, and pelvic pain may occur because of vascular engorgement.
Secondary anorgasmia is where a woman has previously been able to orgasm but suddenly loses this ability. This may be in response to pelvic injury or surgery, hormone deficiencies, certain medications, grief, depression, alcoholism or a traumatic event.
Situational anorgasmia is where you are only able to orgasm during certain situations, such as only during oral sex or masturbation. This is infact very common in women. Many studies suggest that about 70 percent of women experience orgasm only from stimulation of the clitoris, not during intercourse.
Although anorgasmia can have a physical cause, it very often has psychological roots. Stress, anxiety, performance anxiety, guilt and relationship issues can all contribute to anorgasmia.
Pure Hypnoanalysis treats anorgasmia very successfully as it totally resolves the underlying emotional causes of the problem.
Frigidity/ Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder
Frigidity is technically known as Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder. Loss of sex drive, lack of interest in sex or low libido can cause frustration and problems within a relationship. One partner (usually female but not always) avoids sexual intercourse, avoids sexual thoughts, has no desire for sex, has a fear of being intimate etc.
Frigidity is usually caused by subconscious anxiety. The sufferer may have a fear of sex and feel very anxious about anything relating to sexual matters. Sufferers often feel guilty and ashamed in relation to sex, but do not necessarily know why they feel this way. Pure Hypnoanalysis is a very successful treatment, as it completely resolves the underlying emotional causes of the problem.
Unwanted Fetishes
A person with a fetish requires certain objects or body parts, which are not normally considered sexual, in order to become aroused. Common fetishes include feet, shoes, clothing, leather and rubber but can be centred on many other objects.
Some fetishes are considered more socially acceptable than others and in some circumstances may not be an issue for the person with the fetish. Fetishes can, however, often cause relationship problems, as a partner may not be accepting of the fetish. Additionally a fetish can sometimes be so intense that all other sexual activity is dismissed, making a relationship that is satisfactory for both partners very difficult. If you have a fetish you may experience feelings of anxiety, guilt, shame and embarrassment and may worry that you are abnormal.
Unwanted fetishes can be very successfully resolved with Pure Hypnoanalysis. Pure Hypnoanalysis will, also, enable you to deal with any damaging feelings of guilt and shame.

Treatment for Sexual Problems Using Hypnotherapy
All of the above sexual problems are SYMPTOMS of an inner subconscious anxiety. This unconscious anxiety can result in low self-esteem, commitment problems, problems with intimacy, performance anxiety, and sexual phobias, all of which can result in any of the above. These sexual problems can ALL be successfully treated using hypnotherapy, in particular with Pure Hypnoanalysis.
Suggestion Therapy is 'normal hypnotherapy'. Here you are relaxed into a nice light hypnotic state, where you are fully in control but simply very relaxed, and given suggestions that will help your problem. Although this type of therapy can temporarily help sexual problems, it is not generally recommended, as in the long term you won't see any benefits.
At the IAPH, however, we offer the unique form of hypnotherapy, Pure Hypnoanalysis, which will allow you to completely and permanently resolve your symptoms.
Pure Hypnoanalysisis a very special type of hypnotherapy. It is one of the best methods in the world for treating emotional, psychological or anxiety-related problems. It is a uniquely successful therapy, which allows you to completely resolve the root cause of your problem, in a very safe and non-judgmental atmosphere. This therapy only takes around 6 - 12 sessions, allowing you to make huge changes to your life in a very short space of time.
