Hypnotherapy Training
Introduction
The Training Course in Hypnotherapy first started in 1980,when the Author had
been in Private Practice for a number of years, and had amassed sufficient experience
and expertise to teach others. It has been running continuously ever since. Most
students have commented favorably about the Course (even some who failed to reach
the required standard) and many ex-students are now well established in Private
Practice. (visit 'Practitioners' at this site for listing).
Not Everyone wants to be a hypnotherapist!
The Course wisely takes account of this fact, and offers self-improvement and
enlightenment to anyone who has the interest to pursue same. Your reasons for
taking the Course are private to you, and they need not be disclosed. Should you
find the thought of "required reading", the "Test Exercises" and "Final Exam"
all rather daunting, you need have no concern; it is perfectly acceptable for
you to enroll on the Course and not return the interim Test Exercises or Final
Exam Paper. Under those circumstances you would not be eligible for the Diploma,
etc., but, who knows, at some later date you may well change your mind and have
a go at the questions. Either way, you are still likely to have acquired an insight
into yourself and your fellows that few others on this planet possess.
Should you doubt that you possess the necessary
skills - relax ! Please accept that skills can be learned. A flying instructor
can transform Mr. or Mrs. Average from a pedal cyclist to a qualified licensed
pilot in just 40 hours of instruction! Provided you are mentally alert, of average
intelligence and reasonably quick to assimilate information, with a genuine
interest in people and their problems, there is absolutely no reason why you
should not become a competent Therapist, as hundreds of students of the course
have done before you. As the reputation of the Training is potentially at risk
via any Student, we reserve the right to be selective and return any Application
Form and Fee without giving a reason. Please be accurate with your replies to
the Questionnaire as during the Course we will of necessity gain insight into
your character and inaccuracies would confuse.
Assuming you have decided to proceed, please complete
and submit the Application Form together with your remittance. Your application
will be acknowledged by return. General Macarthur said, "There are no such things
as guarantees in life, only opportunities."
Distance Learning Programme
In a Distance Learning format, the Course is of approximately six months duration.
Usually every two weeks during that time, learning material (both written and
on audio cassette) will be dispatched to you. There are also some "required reading"
books to be studied. The course is supplemented by optional one-day seminars and
also Instructional Weekends in the UK, which Students may attend if they wish.

Hypnotherapy in the United Kingdom, is not the
subject of specific legislation, so there are no formal qualifications which
can be obtained. Neither is there a Statutory Register of Hypnotherapists. However,
subject to your satisfactory performance in a postal examination at the end
of the Course, you will be awarded a DIPLOMA IN HYPNOTHERAPY. This Diploma
confers the following benefits:
You would be accepted for Membership of the International
Association of Hypno-Analysts, a recognized Professional Association - this
would not normally be readily available to you, and breaches what is often a
"closed shop" policy. The IAH is certainly Europe's largest, and arguably most
successful, group of Hypno-analysts.
In the UK you would have access to "Professional
Indemnity Insurance" for an already agreed premium. This protects you against
any malpractice claim, and is with a major Insurance House. Such cover would
not normally be readily available to you. (Many long-established therapists
have the greatest difficulty obtaining, indeed cannot obtain, such cover).
You will have gained insight into the use of Hypnosis,
knowledge of the development and functioning of the human psyche, and an awareness
of nervous disorders, their causes and effects, certainly sufficient to have
gained greater insight into yourself and to be of benefit to your fellows. (Certainly
sufficient to ensure that you do no harm to your fellows). You will be well
equipped to commence a Practice should you so desire.
The course also explains the British Law relating
to establishing a Private Practice, warns of various pitfalls and counsels how
to proceed. There is a tremendous public interest in "alternative medicine",
and the opportunities are many and exciting. However, to successfully complete
the Course will involve you in a lot of reading, some writing (as there are
Test Exercises during the Course) and a degree of mental self-discipline.
